There were a few donor first timers, a few donor veterans, and plenty of laughs supporting such a vital service. The team at the Adelaide Donor Centre were fantastic hosts, providing a welcoming and easy-going environment for the Bernie Lewis crew. They had some top notch complimentary snacks on offer too.
One third of all donated red blood cells are used in cancer treatment and two thirds of all donated platelets are given to cancer patients, underlining the importance of blood donations in Australia. LifeBlood are also looking for plasma donors, as plasma is used to create immune-boosting medications for seriously ill cancer patients.
