2 Consultants in the Nation’s ‘Top 50 Dealmakers’

The Mortgage Professional Australia (MPA) recently released a list acknowledging Australia’s busiest mortgage brokers. Two of our Accredited Mortgage Consultants, John Speirs and Vera Mortimer, feature in this list; a reflection of their ability to settle the most number of residential mortgages in a financial year.
This award is in recognition of these consultants’ professionalism, dedication and their ability to manage time efficiently. As John Speirs explains knowledge and time management go hand in hand, “My key is knowledge, knowing what you are doing so that you’re efficient.” |
Mortgage Professional Australia’s Top 100 Brokers 2006

Three of our top Accredited Mortgage Consultants were again placed in the MPA’s Top 100 Brokers.
“To achieve a ranking in Australia’s Top 100 Brokers is a huge accomplishment considering that there are now over 8,000 loan writers competing for business,” writes Huw Bough in the MPA Magazine issue 6.12. This is acknowledgement of our Accredited Mortgage Consultants’ professionalism, industry knowledge and experience, and client service. |
Managing Director appointed as National President of the Mortgage & Finance Association of Australia
In November 2005 Managing Director of Bernie Lewis Home Loans, Mark Lewis, was appointed as the National President of the Mortgage Industry Association of Australia, now known as the Mortgage & Finance Association of Australia (MFAA), for a two year term.
Previous to this role he was the National Vice President and also the South Australian State President of the association. Mark is the youngest person ever to be appointed to the role of National President.
The MFAA is the peak body for the mortgage industry with nearly 12,000 members Australia wide including major banks, regional banks, credit unions, building societies, non bank lenders, mortgage managers, mortgage originators, mortgage brokers and other service providers to the mortgage industry.

In late 2005, Bernie Lewis Home Loans won the annual National Brokerage of the Year Award for the over 10 staff category. This prestigious award was won after a rigorous judging process which looked at all aspects of the business. Winning the award was made sweeter by the fact that Bernie Lewis Home Loans is owned and operated solely in South Australia and yet competed against all other brokers nationally – proof that a South Australian business can be the best in Australia. |

In December 2005, Bernie Lewis Home Loans made it into the top 100 Businesses in South Australia as rated by In-Business Magazine.

In November 2005, four of our top Accredited Mortgage Consultants were placed in the Top 100 National loan writers. Quite an achievement considering the South Australian loan sizes are considerably smaller than those in the Eastern States where most of the Top 100 emanated from. |
